Transfer Policies

Bethel welcomes transfer students. Students transferring from two-year institutions must complete toward the Baccalaureate degree a minimum of sixty semester hours at regionally accredited senior four-year institutions. Residency and all other degree requirements of the college must be met.

Any student holding either an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree designed for transfer to a four-year college or university (University Parallel Program) is presumed to have completed all common core requirements at Bethel College except Religion 111 and 112.

Students transferring without the associate degree, whether from two-year or four-year institutions, must complete all Bethel College core requirements not met by transferred equivalent courses. The residency requirements of Bethel College must be satisfied despite the number of hours transferred.

Students who have completed course work at college-level, degree-granting institutions that are not accredited by a regional accrediting agency but are listed in the current �Accredited Institutions of Postsecondary Education� as an accredited degree-granting institution and whose accrediting agency is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may petition the Registrar to have these courses accepted toward their degree at Bethel College. The student must submit an official transcript from any such institution. Credit determination is made by the Registrar on a course-by- course basis dependent upon course content and other documentation which the student may be required to provide from the institution involved. The Registrar may consult with the Division Chairs, the faculty and/or the Academic Dean in regard to the credit to be granted.

Transfer students who have completed less than 12 semester hours in any one term must submit high school transcripts and ACT or SAT scores.

All students transferring to Bethel must submit the Application for Admission, the $30.00 non-refundable application fee, and official transcripts from each college previously attended. Failure to disclose attendance at other institutions is sufficient cause for dismissal from Bethel College.

Students wishing to transfer to Bethel must be eligible to return to their previous college to be admissible to Bethel College. Transfer students who do not meet the following minimum cumulative grade point averages for their classification but are eligible to return to their previous college may be admitted on Academic Probation.

Freshman = 0-27 hrs; 1.5 GPA

Sophomore = 28-59 hrs; 1.8 GPA

Junior = 60-95 hrs; 2.0 GPA

Senior = 95 + hrs; 2.0 GPA

Transfer hours attempted, hours earned, grade points, and grade point averages earned at other colleges and universities will be included in the Bethel College academic record.
